Dalgano-Style Drinks Without Coffee (Vegan/Keto) | Delia.v Life

Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have known that the viral Dalgona Coffee has dominated the Internet. A lesser known fact is that the Dalgona Coffee is actually adapted from a traditional Indian beverage called "Pheti Hui Coffee" or Beaten Coffee. While Dalgona Coffee is traditionally tedious to make because you've got to be manually whipping for 10 mins straight, a powerful invention called the hand blender can easily help you get the job done in a minute!
As recipe creators who pride ourselves in making unique creations, we've of course jumped on the bandwagon as well. The difference is that, instead of making Dalgona Coffee, we came up with Dalgona-inspired drinks! They are - Earl Grey Oat Dalgona, Matcha Almond Dalgona and Turmeric Soy Dalgona. We have specially selected the type of milk used for each flavour such that it pairs perfectly with the dalgona. Even our skeptic friend had a visible mouthgasm and gave a thumbs up after downing it (we're not even exaggerating).
These are quick and easy drinks you can make in your home, especially on a lazy hot summer afternoon for a little pick-me-up. Not only are they vegan but are keto-friendly as well! We've also linked the specific brands of milk we used which we find complemented the dalgano perfectly. Here are the recipes:
Earl Grey Oat Dalgona: 3 tbs Chickpea water (See notes) 1 tbs Sugar (See notes) ½ tsp Earl Grey Tea powder ½ glass of ice 180ml Oat milk Lavender buds for decoration (Optional) Turmeric Soy Dalgona: 3 tbs Chickpea water (See notes) 1 tbs Sugar (See notes) ¼ tsp Turmeric powder ½ tsp Cinnamon powder ½ glass of ice 180ml Soy milk Crushed ginger cookies for decoration (Optional) Matcha Almond Dalgona (Keto Friendly): 3 tbs Chickpea water (See notes) 1 tbs Sugar/ Monk Fruit sweetener (See notes) ½ tbs Matcha powder ½ glass of ice 180ml Almond milk Dusting of Matcha powder for decoration (Optional)
Instructions: 1. Using a hand whisk, whisk the chickpea water on high until foamy (about 30 seconds). 2. Add in sugar bit by bit while whisking to ensure that the foam does not collapse on itself. 3. Once the sugar is well incorporated and the foam forms soft peaks, add in Earl Grey Tea powder/ Turmeric spice/ Matcha powder bit by bit and blend for another 30 seconds until thick and glossy. Be careful not to overmix or the foam will not hold its shape. 4. Add ice in a glass and pour in the oat/ soy/ almond milk 5. Using a spoon, gently scoop the thick foam onto the glass of plant milk. 6. Decorate if desire. Notes: - Chickpea water is the water drained from a can of chickpeas. If you feel iffy about consuming chickpea water straight from the can, boil the chickpea water for 3 minutes and let it cool to room temperature. - To make the Dalgona Keto friendly, feel free to use monk fruit sweetener or erytrithol instead of sugar. - Caster sugar/ powdered sugar works well in the recipes above.
